I’m a senior, mid-handicap golfer and my club shafts are Reg. flex. I usually play a Titleist TourSpeed or a TaylorMade TP5 when I can afford it. I play a Vice Tour when I can’t. I’ve had a chance to play all three balls in the SD series. The bottom line is I’ve retired the Vice Tour and the Titleist TourSpeed, and I’ll only play the TP5 when I get some for Christmas or Father’s Day.
The SD-02 is a good ball, but I don’t have the swing speed to take full advantage of it. They found a good home with my son, who plays to a single-digit handicap. I’m trying to decide whether the answer for my game is the SD-X1 or the SD-05. I like the way the X1 reacts off the tee, but I think the -05 may be the better ball for me tee to green. These balls provide me with the best and most consistent performance of anything I’d played this summer. The TP-5 is marginally longer off the tee with my swing, but not so much longer that the it's worth a 43% premium over the single price box of either the Seed SD-X1 or the SD-05. I’ll continue to test the X1 and the -05 until I put the clubs up for the winter. No matter what, I have a new ball and Seed has a new customer.
