NEW!! Shipping From July 22
SD-X1 is the high compression/low spin ball in the Seed line up.
That means faster ball speeds, less driver spin and more distance (particularly off the longer clubs).
The original SD-X1 design was focused on speed and pushed the limits to the max. The ball was so fast, that it exceeded the R&A limits for initial velocity while staying in the 5% tolerance allowed.
The new SD-X1 2nd Generation see the Seed design team build on that speed & performance and features several design upgrades including a faster core, more elastic mantle layer, a thinner cast urethane cover and a new dimple pattern.
Features:
- Construction: Three-piece, urethane cover
- Compression: Firm
Construction
-
3-Piece construction with cast urethane cover
- High compression High Energy Rubber Core (EngCore)
- High Flex HPF mantle for optimised driver spin and increased carry distance - - Thinner cast urethane cover
- New 318 dimple design for piercing ball flight
Characteristics
- Faster core for more ball speed
- Thinner cover for more control & feel
- High flex mantle for more distance and feel
- New dimple pattern for greater trajectory control

Dubbed: The ProV1 Killer
Basically, the SD-X1 is about as hot as we can legally make a ball (and yes, it's USGA and R&A approved for tournament play).
And in our robot testing, the results speak for themselves... increases in both carry and total distance, and lower dispersion also.
About seed balls
Seed golf balls are designed in conjuction with DesignCORE and EngCORE from our base at the South Eastern Technoligal Universty (SETU) in Ireland.
DESIGN
Premium, professional quality golf balls are really difficult to make.
And that usually means they’re expensive.
At Seed, our products are developed by a small team of industry experts, young designers and experienced engineers. We focus on a core product range, offering maximum performance for the best value around.
We are obsessed with lowering the cost of premium balls, no doubt about that, but we’re just as obsessed with performance. It’s one of the reasons our SD-01 was named as the Official Ball of the PGA EuroPro Tour. We make every effort to provide the best possible value for you, within an proven design concept.
Choosing the right ball can be confusing, so rather than offering ten (or twenty) different golf ball models, we focus on the best model for a specific performance category. This leads to significant cost savings in the development as well as in the production process.
It’s a little known fact, but USGA and R&A performance regulations mean golf ball designers are somewhat restricted with what they can do performance wise. There’s only so much speed (i.e. launch/distance) we can put into a design and still be conforming, so that tends to limit the designers a little when pushing the development of the core and mantle layers. Our design process focused heavily around aerodynamic performance (fluid dynamics more specifically) particularly Magnus and aerodynamic force & the subsequent effects on lift and drag.
For a golfer, this translates into three important performance criteria – launch angle/ball speed, distance and spin/feel.
MATERIALS
We’ve independently tested Seed and results confirm Seed balls compare favourably with the major brands.
Balls have been tested with a robotic swing machine and with groups of ‘real’ golfers. Swing parameters were set to identical for each Swing Robot Test and Real Golfers were given multiple shots with each ball, with results averaged. Balls have also been tested at the USGA Performance Lab and undergone extensive factory testing.
All area’s of performance have been considered with design integrity and performance consistency being key. Testing involves collecting data from numerous parameters included external parameters such as set up, club specifications, swing type, attack angle, swing plan, weather and launch conditions.
