Tour performance. Refined.™

The SD-02 is one for the distance freaks, with lower spin off the driver producing a flatter (lower) ball flight. This is a 4-piece golf ball which was designed to provide consistent results right through the bag. The extra layer provides more spin & control around the greens too.

Premium, professional quality golf balls are really difficult to make.

And that usually means they’re expensive.

At Seed, our products are developed by a small team of industry experts, young designers and experienced engineers. We focus on a core product range, offering maximum performance for the best value around.

We are obsessed with lowering the cost of premium balls, no doubt about that, but we’re just as obsessed with performance. It’s one of the reasons our SD-01 was named as the Official Ball of the PGA EuroPro Tour. We make every effort to provide the best possible value for you, within an proven design concept.

Choosing the right ball can be confusing, so rather than offering ten (or twenty) different golf ball models, we focus on the best model for a specific performance category. This leads to significant cost savings in the development as well as in the production process.

It’s a little known fact, but USGA and R&A performance regulations mean golf ball designers are somewhat restricted with what they can do performance wise. There’s only so much speed (i.e. launch/distance) we can put into a design and still be conforming, so that tends to limit the designers a little when pushing the development of the core and mantle layers. Our design process focused heavily around aerodynamic performance (fluid dynamics more specifically) particularly Magnus and aerodynamic force & the subsequent effects on lift and drag.

For a golfer, this translates into three important performance criteria – launch angle/ball speed, distance and spin/feel.

We’ve independently tested Seed and results confirm Seed balls compare favourably with the major brands.

Balls have been tested with a robotic swing machine and with groups of ‘real’ golfers. Swing parameters were set to identical for each Swing Robot Test and Real Golfers were given multiple shots with each ball, with results averaged. Balls have also been tested at the USGA Performance Lab and undergone extensive factory testing.

All area’s of performance have been considered with design integrity and performance consistency being key. Testing involves collecting data from numerous parameters included external parameters such as set up, club specifications, swing type, attack angle, swing plan, weather and launch conditions.

SD-02

I usually play the Srixon Star XV. I picked up some Seeds from a local golf shop. I came away very impressed. I could not tell much of a difference in the balls. I actually had my best round in 4 years with the Seeds. I recommend this product and have committed to switch permanently. Great product!

Great performing ball. Durability could be better.

I’ve played a couple of rounds now with these SD-02 balls. I usually play a ProV1x, and these balls have the same distance off the driver and seem to be about 5 yds longer off my irons. My only complaint is that they are a bit less durable. They scuff and nick very easily. I went through about three balls on an 18 hole round, which isn’t great. I’ll likely reach out to see if they have a ball with similar performance characteristics with a more durable cover.

New ball

Nice feel around the greens; distance is very good. I actually found it played not too different from the SD-01 as I played them side by side on 9-holes at local course.

Don't take our word for it..
